BYU ADLAB MANAGEMENT
Being a part of the BYU Adlab gave me opportunities to work on real client projects for smaller local companies based in Utah, or even larger companies all across the United States. This includes sport supplement companies, worldwide church organizations, and even local tv stations. So of course I signed my NDA, rolled up my sleeves and got right to work! I have worked as an account manager on different branded projects, as well as been a part of the Adlab Leadership team that helps to run meetings, keep things moving, and cultivate creativity in the AdLab.
My speciality? Working with others - and here’s what they have to say:
What I Learned From this experience
01
To move a mountain start with a rock
Very often people forget that in addition to managing advertising campaigns and producing spec work I am also a student. Many times I have realized that often there are too many tasks to complete in a day. To combat this I have learned to break down my heavy tasks so that I can complete everything in a timely manner.
03
Stick to the Plan
As a manager in the Adlab I have been tasked with leading team meetings for the entire program. I learned the value of having a plan and practicing the presentations so that I can keep them engaging and fun for the audience while also being informative and educational.
02
Teamwork makes the dream work
As a manager I have learned that teamwork is the most valuable aspect of a project. As I have continued on my advertising journey the teams I have worked with have continuously gotten larger and larger. I have learned that collaboration and a willingness to work together can help our projects reach new heights.
04
Communication is key
I have had the pleasure of working with more than forty students on various client projects, spec work, Adlab meetings, AAF meetings etc. Communication is vital to the success of a project. I prefer to have multiple routine meetings weekly to ensure that the projects I am working on are successful.
